Transformer Components manufactures a complete line of accessories to facilitate the assembly of circuit breakers into oil-filled distribution transformers.
When the transformer is thermally overloaded, the signal light will light, serving as visual evidence that an unusual overload has occurred on the transformer. In this way, the signal light serves as a continuous load-survey device on each individual transformer. This light will remain on until reset by the circuit-breaker operating handle. Our signal light uses a standard 6V/250mA, GE bulb No. 44, and is replaceable from outside the transformer by removing the signal light lens.

When the breaker trips (or the signal light circuit is closed), the breaker can be reset to normal by using the operating detail handle. The breaker (and signal light) is reset by moving the operating detail handle to “RESET” position and then to the “CLOSE” position.
If the transformer has returned to a normal operating temperature, and if any excessive load (or secondary fault) has been removed, this reset/close operation will return the breaker to its normal operation position by closing the main contacts and opening the signal light contacts.

This switch turns on a light signaling the transformer is overloaded however, unlike a circuit breaker, it will not disconnect the transformer. The overload switch is the ideal product to assist electric utilities in locating overloaded transformers without disrupting service to their customers. The switch can be reset while the transformer continues to operate.

The operating rod is used to complete the connection between the operating handle and circuit breaker. It is made of a 0.219” diameter steel rod with a ¼”-20 rolled thread.
