ERMCO’s Whittle Invited to Speak at State Capitol

On March 4, 2025, Brad Whittle, ERMCO’s Talent Acquisition Programs Supervisor, had the honor of speaking to the Tennessee General Assembly House of Representatives Education Committee at the state Capitol in Nashville. Whittle shared insights into ERMCO’s role in transformer manufacturing and highlighted the company’s operations in Tennessee, with locations in Dyersburg, Celina, and Greeneville.

He also emphasized ERMCO’s ongoing commitment to investing in the future workforce, particularly through its contributions to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and CTE (Career Technical Education). Over the past three years, ERMCO has donated more than $500,000 to support schools in Dyersburg, Dyer County, and Obion County.

“This decision is a result of ERMCO’s belief in the transformative power of education and the critical role that CTE and STEM play in preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern workforce,” Whittle said. “In today’s rapidly evolving world, it is imperative that we equip our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a global workplace. CTE and STEM education provide this by fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills that are essential for success in our industry.”

The opportunity for Whittle to address the committee came through Dyersburg City Schools. Dyersburg Middle School’s STEM/Plus 1 students were invited to present an engineering project aimed at assisting a wheelchair-bound classmate in safely participating in physical education activities. ERMCO’s support of Dyersburg City Schools’ STEM/CTE initiatives has played a crucial role in advancing this project.

Speaking on the relationship between Dyersburg City Schools and ERMCO, Whittle said, “Mrs. [Kim] Worley (Dyersburg City Schools Director) and Mrs. [Kim] Yeiter (Dyersburg City Schools CTE Director) have opened their schools’ doors and allowed us to work with teachers one-on-one to foster the growth needed in their curriculum to give our young workforce a step ahead in a new career. We are excited to see what the future holds in these partnerships.”
ERMCO’s ongoing investment in education continues to play a significant role in shaping the next generation of skilled workers and leaders.
